The list of reasons the Raiders are struggling is a long one
The Oakland Raiders have lost three games in a row and everyone is scrambling to figure out what’s going on. Is it the coaches? Is it the offensive line? Is it the offense? Is it the defense?
The answer is yes, it’s all of those things and more.
Unfortunately, this isn’t a team that just needs to polish up a few things and everything goes back to normal. There are a lot of issues plaguing the Raiders at the moment, and that’s part of the reason why a bad loss in Washington has turned into three bad losses and falling below .500 for the year.
You name it and the Raiders have had problems with it at some point during this losing streak.
Coming out flat? Check.
Poor coaching decisions? Check.
Stupid mistakes by players? Check.
Losing the battle at the line of scrimmage? Check.
Losing the turnover battle? Check.
Giving up big plays? Check.
Inconsistent play? Check.
Big name stars failing to step up? Check.
Poor play on both sides of the ball? Check.
This is a Raiders team that has serious issues that need to be addressed before they will be able to start stringing wins together again. And with Kansas City just around the corner, they need to fix those issues ASAP or risk another embarrassing performance on national television.
But where do you start?
With so many problems plaguing the Raiders at the moment, it’s hard to know what they need to address first. And that alone is a cause for concern. If the Raiders were playing well but losing close games, that would be one thing. But they aren’t. They are losing games where they never really looked like they had a chance to win. They are losing games while looking like they absolutely deserve to lose and in fact, deserved to lose by a bigger margin than they did.
It would be nice to be able to blame everything on coaching or on the Derek Carr injury or on penalties. It would be great to be able to blame any one thing for the struggles. Unfortunately, the list of problems the Raiders need to correct is a long one that might take them a while to work their way through.
I think you and Q should address the offensive scheme changes, if you go back and listen to downings pre denver press conference, he said ” they have changed enough schematically and verbally ” that Musgraves knowledge of our team wouldn’t matter. Think about it, he’s the only different piece in this offense. He changed the blocking schemes and they aren’t working. He and the players have said teams are shooting gaps in the run game. Jack gambled the season on a rookie OC, and he changed the scheme and it isn’t working, and he doesn’t have the experience to figure it out.
