It was only a few weeks ago when the Oakland Raiders looked like they had no chance to make the playoffs let alone of winning the AFC West. But after the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the New York Jets and the Raiders beat the Giants, Oakland finds themselves tied for first place in the AFC West.
It wasn’t a pretty win for the Raiders who allowed the lowly Geno Smith led Giants keep the game close until late in the fourth quarter but at the end of the day, a win is a win and Oakland is one game closer to making the playoffs.
The day started with a huge 51 yard touchdown run by Marshawn Lynch that helped him to his first 100 yard rushing game as a member of the Silver and Black. But unfortunately, Oakland’s offense struggled to find consistency the rest of the day. Derek Carr had troubles with accuracy early in the game and the play calling be offensive coordinator Todd Downing was once again, lackluster to say the least. That allowed the Giants to keep things close even though their offense was borderline inept for most of the day.
