One free agent for the Oakland Raiders to watch out for, but has been somewhat dismissed by Raider Nation due to the possible price tag, is current Miami Dolphins pro bowl Wide Receiver Jarvis Landry.
Landry is productive and durable, appearing in all 64 regular season games in his 4-year career. He has stellar numbers, amassing 400 receptions, 4,038 yards, and 22 touchdowns. Another big thing - he’s a reliable 3rd down target - and does not have the fatal, drive-killing “dropsies” that surely frustrated Carr and the Raiders offense over the course of the 2017 season. Per Pro Football Reference, Landry’s 69.6% catch rate easily beats out Crabtree’s 57.4% and Cooper’s 50.0% catch rates, respectively.
Also, Landry is fearless over the middle, excelling in crossing routes that were a Gruden staple dating back to his days coaching the Raiders from 1998-2001. Landry would surely be a true “Gruden Grinder”, and could take some defensive attention away from Cooper and any other receiver that the Raiders may have in the rotation next season, giving them the chance to be more effective than ever.
