The Oakland Raiders were supposed to have one of the best offenses in the NFL this season but instead, they have an offense that has been a no show more often than it’s looked elite. And there are a lot of issues that can be pointed to, from offensive line play to the lack of a consistent run game to a rookie offensive coordinator to players who look like they don’t have their heads in the game.
Trying to figure out one reason the offense isn’t playing well is a near impossible task since there are so many issues plaguing them at the moment. But there is one issue that is not only a big problem for the Raiders, it’s also a big surprise and that’s the lack of big plays, especially from the passing game.
One of the things that made this offensive unit so scary in 2016 was the fact that it could score almost at will and do so with startling quickness. In fact, there were times the offense scored too quickly last season, forcing the defense to spend more time on the field than perhaps they should have.
